BIOGRAPHY

Ben Feldman: Bassist. Composer. Educator.

Ben Feldman is a bassist from Seattle, currently living in New York City. He began playing bass at the age of 13, inspired by his band director at Hamilton International Middle School, Dan Rowe. While in 8th grade, he and guitarist Owen Boxwell formed their first group together, which continues to perform frequently at local jazz clubs and festivals. 

He continued on to Garfield High School where he joined the top jazz band and orchestra, as well as the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra. While in High School, he received numerous honors including being selected as a member of the 2017 Grammy Jazz Band and the 2017 Vail Jazz Workshop. 

 

He is an active musician on the Seattle jazz scene, and has performed and/or recorded as a leader and sideman with such musicians as Jay Thomas, Stuart MacDonald, Bill Anschell, Mark Taylor, Dawn Clement, David Marriott, Alex Dugdale, Reuel Lubag, and many others. He has also performed with nationally recognized musicians Dave Liebman, Joey Alexander, and Matt Wilson. He co-leads the band Sound Poets, which actively performs in NYC and internationally. 

 

In addition to performing, he teaches music to students at schools including Garfield High School, Nathan Hale High School, and Jane Addams Middle School. He is currently attending Manhattan School of Music, where he is a student of Buster Williams.
